Becoming a leader and teaching your team how to grow or using the buzz word of our industry “Duplicate” is the 2nd skill you must develop.

If you only learn how to recruit, sure there is a chance you can get lucky and find people who do not need your help and will build a large business for you, but your chances at success are much better if you can work with your team, get them started correctly, as well as being there to help them grow and build.

So how do you create this duplication?

1) The main thing is to first of all keep your business building activities simple enough that ANYONE can do them.  The easier it is to succeed the more people will do so!

2) Get your new recruits off to a fast start.  The faster you can get someone to some level of success the higher the chances are they will stick around.

Plus by instilling in them that in our organization we go fast, you will create a culture of movers and shakers.

3) When you first bring someone into the business, point them to your training site, reiterate the importance of being trained before they start building.

Have them contact you when they are done.  (if they do not contact you, do not chase them, this shows they really are not serious, spend your time where it is deserved!)

4) Introduce them to the team, make them feel apart of something.  Either through a team facebook page, a call to a team member,  or a local team event.  The key is to get them plugged in.

5) When on the training, make sure they sign up for your team newsletter.  This should be a weekly message you send out to the team, keeping them in the loop on what is happening with the business, etc.

6) Plug them into a weekly training call.  Teams that grow the fastest have this weekly training call set up.

This call does 2 things:

- Obviously it trains people on the best methods for building their business.

- and secondly it makes them feel a part of something.  They are plugged into the group and engaged.

7) Get them out to local meeting, whether these are weekly or monthly.

Make sure anyone who is serious attends the quarterly company events.  While at the event try and get your team to hang around each other, get to know each other and build relationships with other team members.

All of these things combined will not only provide incredible business building training for your team, it will also create “Culture”, and provide people with a feeling of belonging to something.

This feeling of belonging will keep people around during their learning stages when the business seems more difficult.

So what is really holding you back from success in your network marketing business?

So what is it?

What is the real reason you are not rocking your network marketing business?

It can’t be for a lack of knowledge on how to do it?

Please don’t try to tell me that or yourself!

The internet is saturated with how to build your downline…

You know how to build this business…

Deep down you know you are simply just not doing the deal man!

In the end You know it is simply just a matter of doing it!

This is a people business…  share your opportunity with people and you will have success…  that’s it!

No magic system is going to do that for you…

No secret recruiting method it going to make it any easier for you…

It is simply about meeting people, developing a relationship with them and then asking them if they are open to looking at your opportunity!

Want success start sharing your business with 10 people a day…

Yup 10!  (and that’s a min!)

And yup it is possible if you really want it!

Social media sites like facebook make this so easy it is ridiculous!

If someone had of told us 10 years ago that there would be this place where you can meet as many people as you like and develop a relationship with them in under 5 minutes…

Us networkers would have been salivating at the mouth!!

Well guess what we have it now…  it is real…

but guess what….  still networkers complain about not having enough leads!

Nope sorry…  it is not about not having enough leads…  it is about not having enough desire!  Plain and simple!

If you want it…  it is there for the taking!

Which if you think about it makes no sense what so ever.

If someone’s success depends on you doing well, why would they not share what works best?

The real “supposed” secret to their success is they have become serious about their business and they have embraced the power behind being consistent.

They show up each and every day, they do not let life’s little cares stop them from doing what is required…  they make no excuses… as Nike says they “Just Do It…. over and over and over and over UNTIL it happens!!!

And in reality that is all this business is, it is being consistent at sharing your opportunity with people.

That’s it….  that’s why someone with no sales skills what so ever, can go flying by the best sales person in the world in this business…  because they are consistent with the day to day “Rain Making” activities that are required to make someone successful, and that is simply sharing this business with others!

And it makes no difference which recruiting method you use, as long as it has been proven to work, latch onto it and then simply do what it takes to “MAKE” yourself do it over and over again.

Sounds easy…  but in reality for us humans becoming disciplined seems to be a hard feat.

Anyone reading this can relate to trying to get in shape, joining the gym, going for maybe a week or two and then skipping one day, that turns into skipping a 2nd day, to where eventually (probably within 3 weeks) you have stopped going altogether….

Same thing happens here….  someone will start out with great intentions…  will start engaging in the recruiting activity they have chosen (what ever it is) and then slowly start to skip one day, then a 2nd and then bam…  before you know it they are running around saying Network Marketing does not work!

This is why I recommend starting out slow…  do not try to do it all at once…. pick ONE recruiting method…  set your realistic schedule, whether that is 1 hour a day or 2…  realize this WILL take time to get good at and see results… so do not focus on the results, focus on doing the deal… and promise yourself you will not quit….  make yourself stick to your schedule.

Do this and your success is inevitable in this business!

It is a great read and a must have as part of your Personal development library.  Hopefully you have one of those, but that is for a different blog post!

When reading it, it is not hard to tell that Darren has a history in Network Marketing and considering he was trained by the late Great Mr. Jim Rohn, his success concepts apply to our profession big time.

Success in this business really is all about our little activities performed day in and day out compounding on themselves to create a serious residual income and an awesome lifestyle.

To conquer this industry and to create the lifestyle of your dreams, you must conquer yourself.  You must control your desire for instant gratification.

Most people fail because they want success RIGHT NOW.

We are in a society of instant results.  Taking 30-6o minutes to cook supper took too long so we invented the microwave and press a few buttons…  whock your food full of radiation and “presto” within 30 seconds you have a full course meal!

This want it all now mentality is the killer for this business.

Someone will come in, talk to MAYBE 3 friends and quite within 3 days because they have not created a six figure income!

And the funny thing about that is, they will then settle themselves in for the long 40 year working the JOB plan!

Gang I have said it before Network Marketing IS the short cut!

But it will take you time (3-5 years).

It will take effort (10 – 15 hours a week)

and it will be frustrating at first until you master the skill sets required.

BUT each activity that is an income producing activity will have a Compound Effect”…  Each call you make will result in you becoming that much closer to where you want to be.

These little activities may not seem like much at the time when you are in the trenches doing the deal, but over time they will compound on top of each other and result in a serious income!

Be like that turtle, sure and steady, not letting anything derail him…  pushing on taking the right steps over and over again.

So this and it is literally impossible to fail in this business!

Make the calls day in and day out regardless of any negativity you experience and BAM… before you know it a six Figure income!

Sure beats the alternative!

However the same reasoning I provided on that post can be applied to your Network Marketing business.

See the problem for most is they make a decision to change it all…  to go from doing nothing productive to doing it all over night…  Almost like Clark Kent jumping into a phone booth and coming out as super man…  BAM…  that’s it I was a non-recruiter, now I am a high powered do it all and do it now recruiter!

A great analogy that I used yesterday is of people who go swimming in cold water…

There are 2 types…

1) The person who takes a running leap and cannon balls into water…  takes the plunge…

verses

2) The person who tip toe, one inch at a time into the water…  letting their body get use to the temperature change as they go.

Guess who stays in the water the longest?

Almost always it is the 2nd person.

The 1st person, jumps in, has a major shock to their system and almost always makes a bee-line for the shore to get out of the water as fast as possible.

Where as the 2nd person, has no problem swimming for as long as they want, because they slowly got use to it!!

So how does this relate to recruiting?

Well what I see this time of year is people saying that this is it I am going to become successful in this industry and start recruiting everyone RIGHT NOW!

Then instead of learning the skills required, instead of picking one recruiting strategy and mastering it before moving on to the next…  they try to do it all!

They start recruiting on facebook… or building an attraction marketing system…  or running ads offline…  or making a new warm market list… or prospecting professionals…  ALL at once!

They do too much and of course get overwhelmed and give up!

What you need to do is pick one mlm recruiting method…  learn it, practice it, get good at it.. and only after you have had success with it and determine that you are ready to add another method, go and do that!

This is not a race gang…  Network Marketing is ALREADY the short cut to success in life, do not look for a short cut to Network Marketing, there is none!!

Make your New Years Resolution to BECOME a Network Marketing professional, ONE STEP AT A TIME!

And before you know it you will become one with the lifestyle you have always desired!

I had a conversation a few weeks back with a fellow networker, and I can tell you that it is not hard to tell that this guy wants success…

He is putting in the time…  he is working it!

But do you know what his problem is?

He is afraid of the phone.

He does not want to pick up the phone and call his prospects.

In my opinion he has fallen for the lie that “Smart” marketers on the internet have sold him…

You know the one..  “You can build a mlm business using nothing but the internet and never having to speak with a single lead again in your life”!

That my friends is pure and utter Bull Ca-ca!

Yes the internet is a powerful tool for generating leads…

But once you have generated the leads you must develop the relationship with them over the phone.

If you are selling yourself the lie that you can build without ever speaking with your prospects you have a very very hard and painful road ahead of you!

So if you want the type of success that MLM can bring, get over the phone fear ASAP.  

Ready For The Fastest Way Possible To Get Over Your Fear Of The Phone?

Bite the damn bullet, pick it up, and “Start Smiling & Dialling”.

Practise Practise Practise…

Your success in Network Marketing is ALL about developing the required skill sets to make it to the top…  and using the phone is one of them!

I recommend to anyone afraid to use the phone, to go and buy 500 cheap leads…

Buy them with ZERO expectations of recruiting anyone…

Use them only for the purpose of getting use to using the phone…

Once you burn through all 500 leads… I PROMISE you that you will be a whiz one the phone..

Your fear of rejection will be long long gone!

And calling “Warm Leads” generated on the internet or with any other method will become a snap.

This is a very  interesting subject to dive into.

Within this industry there are 2 different approaches and/or methodologies on this subject.

Let’s look at them…

Approach #1: Distributors Distributors Distributors…

Some people approach everyone of their prospects regardless of who they are with the business opportunity first…  with the goal of recruiting as many distributors as possible.

They have the mentality that a big business is built by recruiting distributors who become  ”Users & Shares”…

Meaning people who will use the product monthly but also Share the Business Opportunity.

Their thought process is that they would rather have a distributor who will help them grow their downline… then simply a customer who will only be placing an order each month.

There is nothing wrong with this approach and to be up front this is the approach that for msot of my career I used…

BUT… the key to having success with this approach is making sure that after someone looks at the opportunity and IF they decide it is NOT for them…  that you allow them the chance to become a customer.

How do you do this?

By simply asking them!  “So John I understand that the opportunity is not for you, but tell me what do you like about the product?”

Whatever they say they like…  say you do to…  and then just ask for the order…  (some will some won’t who cares, push on!)

Approach #2: Customers Customers Customers!

This is an interesting approach and one that I have been paying more attention to.

The thought process behind why you would go this route is as follows.

Every networker marketer who has had any amount of success at all, understands that just like in the recruiting process… the majority of networkers you bring into your business ARE NOT going to put the time and effort in to build the business…

As such if you have a good product (if you don’t change companies!)…  then best case scenario is that you will end up with a distributor who simply shifts into a customer! (keeps ordering the product monthly!)

So…  why not just go after customers in the first place??

If you have a great product,  that people will love… it is WAY easier to get a customer then it is a distributor…

SO…  you will end up with way more personal customers…

And the thought process is that a good percentage of happy customers will turn into distributors…  (if they are telling their friends about this great product they might ass well make some $$ doing so )

and when they turn into a distributor they will then go do the same thing you just did…

I.E. find a ton of customers themselves…  create a bunch of product sales monthly… resulting in high Volume in your business…And just like what happened with you, a certain percentage of their customers will turn into distributors…  which will result in you also growing a large downline.

AND… it could be argued that you will have a much more solid downline going this route verse the other, because you have a downline of people who came on because they LOVE the product and will continue to buy it!

In the end both of these approaches work…  it really comes down to you and how you want to build your business.

Personally I suggest gauging the person you are talking to…  are they a business oriented person or someone you know is looking for a change in their financial situation… and wants to make more money?  If so go with the Distributor approach…

If not and if you have a product that can help them… go with the product approach.

Mix it up and see what works best for you!

Either way the key is to get your business or product in front of large amounts of people daily!!

When in reality is not what you say to a prospect but how you say it that is going to get them interested in looking at your business.

Posture and body language are far more important then memorizing some fancy dance sales script.

This business is without a doubt 90% posture and 10% what you say.

If you go to a prospect all jacked up right out of your mind excited…  it does not matter what you say to them…  they will be so damn curious to find out what in the hell has you so wound up that they are without a doubt going to rush home to take a look at your business presentation.

How do I know this?

Because it happened to me…

When I first become involved with the right people and the right company, I just knew deep down this was it, my life was going to change for ever…

And as a result I was fired up man…I was jacked right up out of my mind!

I called everyone and anyone, and I have “NO IDEA” what I said to them…  but whatever it was I said it with PASSION!!

And people responded!!  A huge percentage of the people I spoke with looked at my business presentation and a very large amount of them joined.

I can recall one of our first events, my brother and I had over 175 people out…  this was within our first 2 months of being in business…  why because we were excited and we had posture and people want to be around people who are going places…  and by listening to us they could tell we were going places.

Now I am not suggesting that you act like a “MAD MAN’… and just start going crazy…

But what I am telling you is that ANY time you are speaking with a prospect…  You MUST sound excited…  you Must be confident…  You must give the impression that you are going places with or without this person and that they would be out of their flipping minds not to look at your deal!

Do not be apologetic…

do not be all meek timid and scared acting…

You have the deal!!

What you have they need… so act like it when speaking to your prospects, and it will blow your mind how they respond!

Now some people have posture naturally and others have to work on it…

But anyone can develop it.

Personal development and being around successful people is key…  When you surround yourself with positivity and people who are being successful in your business, the posture will rub off on you!!

It is basically his revamped version of “Your First Year In Network Marketing”.

Within it he reviews a well know story about W. Clement Stone, who was actually the co-founder of Success magazine.

Mr. Stone was also the CEO of Combined Insurance Company.  He was an incredible sales person.

So what happens is he was once hired to train a group of insurance sales people, who were basically bombing hard when it came to making any sales.

To make a point at how easy it would be to increase their sales numbers he had each one of them go door to door and knock on a stranger’s door and simply ask the person who came to the door…  “You Don’t Want To Buy Any Insurance Do You?”

Well guess what he found…

YUP…  just like MLM it was a numbers game for these guys.

For every Sixty Doors they knocked on, one person would buy an insurance policy!

As a result the sales people for this company went from hardly being able to sell 1 policy a week to being able to sell 8 a week!

Gang…  MLM is the EASY way to live the life of your  dream…  you just have to get over yourself and stop carrying what people think of you!

If you truly were sick and tired of your lifestyle and wanted to make it in MLM all you have to do is talk to people…

As Mark talks about in his book…  you could literally say pretty much anything as your recruiting pitch to 30 complete strangers and you will sign one of them up.

Including…  You don’t Want To Do MLM Do You?

Say this to 30 people and one is going to say “Actually I have been thinking about doing  just that!”

So all you need to do is determine what is going to be your recruiting method…  do you like the idea of going out and meeting people in public?  Do you like the idea of using social media like twitter or facebook.  Possibly it is attraction marketing.

In the end it makes no difference…  the key is to talk to people…  pick a number you are going to talk to daily…  I recommend you get it up into the double digits..  at least 10 people daily…  and go do it!

You will shock yourself at how fast you become successful…

And if you hate doing it….  well suck it up butter cup…  the beautiful thing about MLM the recruiting aspect of your business is that it really is only temporary…  go hard for the next 18-24 months recruiting and you will have created a massive organization!

• stop studying your compensation plan

• stop memorizing the ingredients of your products

• stop cleaning your desk

And START prospecting and keep on prospecting!

As far as prospecting goes I have seen that there is a trend out there from a lot of the Supposed “Goo-Roo’s” on the internet who are training on the right “Closing Lines” to use on your prospects.

Now although I do believe you should be scripted and know how to handle objections as discussed on this post “Should You Use MLM Scripts“, I am not big on using closing lines…

Repeating standard closing lines is like repeating scripts… which I am not for.

My main reasons for not using closing lines are:

1) Duplication – This is a business of duplication.

And what that means is that anything you do to build your business your team will “Try” to do…

…memorising a ton of closing lines and then trying to get good at delivering them is NOT easy and therefore not duplicateable.

Not to mention your prospect is watching you and the whole time they are thinking to themselves…

“What Robb is doing I will have to do also in order to be successful”…

if they think they have to memorize closing lines and become a rock star closer they might not think they have the skill to do it and will not join for that one reason!

2) Too sales-ie – Closing lines are for sales people!

We are NOT in a sales business.  We are in a sharing business.  We share our opportunity by way of 3rd party tools.

All we do is simply point people to a “Series” of 3rd parties tools (one after the other, could be website, dvd, cd, webinar, corporate site, 3 way call, etc) …

We keep doing this UNTIL they have enough information to make up their own mind whether or not this business is for them.

If they do not see the power behind your opportunity after looking at your “Series” of 3rd party tools…  and if you need to “CLOSE” them with a Fancy Dancy line…  well then there is a great chance this business is not for them and they will do nothing but waste your time!

3) You don’t need closing lines!

In the end this is simply a numbers game…  I would rather have my team focus on learning and mastering the skill of “Developing and Maintaining an On-Going Candidates List”!

When you learn how to get and keep your opportunity in front of a large number of people, the law of large numbers dictates that a large portion of them are going to end up in your business regardless of what you say to them!

How To Sign Em-Up?

I can already hear you asking, what I personally say then to a prospect after they have seen my 3rd party tool…

Well… After every exposure I ask my prospect “What they liked about it”…

Then I say the only closing line you will ever need…

“Sounds Like You Are Ready To Get Started”…

There is only 3 possible answers to this…

1) No its not for me…  (great onto the next)

2) They still have questions… This is when you send them to another 3rd party tool AND after they have seen it guess what you say…  “Sounds Like You Are Ready To Get Started”…

3) Yes I am ready…  (sign them up and get them rolling!!)

That’s it gang…  this IS an easy business so let’s keep it that way!!
