3 Steps to Conquer Your Fears

Have you ever felt so overwhelmed by fear that it stopped you from doing things you really wanted to do? You are not alone; this is a problem many people deal with on a daily basis. conquer your fear

Fear has the ability to stop you from taking risks, going after your dreams, or even prevent you from becoming a success and achieving your goals. If you permit fear to control you over time, it will destroy your quality of life & lock you up tight in your own prison of inactivity.

What most people do not realize is that fear is simply a conditioned response.

It is your body’s natural response to a intimidating or unfamiliar event or situation.

While it is true that fear is typically an automatic response, there are certainly things you can do to overcome it.


Lets take a quick look at the following 3 Fear Busters:

Fear Buster #1: Check your expectations.

One significant contributor towards fear is your negative expectations.

=> Do you typically find that you are expecting the worst to happen in any situation?

=> Are you always worrying about what might go wrong, instead of focusing on what could go right?

If you start making a conscious effort to expect good things to happen start looking for the positive outcome of any situation & always be reminding yourself that you capable of handling must more than you even realize… you’ll find yourself dealing with a lot less fear in your life.

And even if from time to time a feeling of fear does creep into your head, you will be able to control it and keep it in perspective by balancing it against your now strong feeling of self confidence.


Fear Buster #2: Discredit your fears.

We have all heard that FEAR means False Expectations Appearing Real.

This is true. Most of your fears will never come to pass.

Now having said this it definitely does not feel that way when your fear has its icy cold grip on you!

The thing to do when you have fears griping you is to take a closer look at them and 9 times out of 10 you will find that you will be able to dismiss most of them as nonsense.

For example, if you are like most people and have fear of speaking in front of people and your employer would like you to give a presentation at the next staff meeting, you could fear that if you screw up that your job is in jeopardy. You could be fearing that you will be fired or perhaps be concerned your colleagues will consider you inadequate at your job.

But in reality is this going to happen? Most likely not!

So instead of worrying about something that is most likely not going to happen, spend your time working on ways to have a rock solid performance and practice your presentation so you can impress them all.


Fear Buster #3: Do the very thing you fear.  do the thin you fear dale carnegie

They key to defeating fear and being happy is to always keep in the center of your mind that fear is only a feeling. Do this and you will find that fear loses much of its power and hold on you.

It can not hurt you & except for truly dangerous situations you can decide to simply ignore it & do that which you fear anyhow.

Take the time to actually weigh the pros & cons of any situation you face.

If you do this you will find that the chance of negative consequences occurring is incredibly minimal and as a result you will come to the understanding that you might as well simply ignore the fear and do the activity with all you got!

The point here is not to rush into things and become reckless with your actions but rather to empower you to realize when your fear is silly and when it can be easily overcome.

Be a person of action. Feel your fear and do the activity anyway. All great successes in life are found outside of your present comfort zone.

You have to get uncomfortable to move forward as a person and to achieve any goal or dream you have.
